Rosewitha Steinmann Kindt

My Grandma Rosie passed away last night after a battle against leukemia. She was born and lived in Milwaukee her entire life. Two and a half weeks ago, she and my grandpa moved to Mesa, Arizona.

Vance and I had the opportunity last weekend to be in Mesa to see her. I had the opportunity to share memories with her, thank her, and tell her how much I loved her. After a few months of battling leukemia, she was weak and not feeling well. It was an honor to be there in her last few days. I was able to hold her hand, rub her hands and legs that were in so much pain. She was the one that held and took care of me as a baby and child, but now the tables have turned! It was one of the most painful experiences for me but also one of the most spiritual. It made me think a lot about how I know that I will see her again.

She taught me a lot about generosity towards others. She also taught me the importance of reaching for the greatest blessings, and not accepting any less. She grew up in difficult circumstances as a child, but married a good man and has lived a wonderful life with seven successful children with many grandchildren and even a few great grandchildren. I love her smile, her laugh, and soft skin. I loved being able to grow up in Wisconsin with her so close.


It was amazing to see her. She has been though so much and still looked very beautiful to me. Although death is very sad, it must have been a relief for her from all the pain. This picture of us at the hospital will be one to keep forever. I love you Grandma and will miss you...

Halloween and Soccer

It was the day before Halloween and Vance and I were still struggling while deciding what to dress up as. I mean, we are still young enough that it would be too boring not to dress up. Plus we had a ward Christmas party. We heard of some unique ideas from friends and relatives on what they were doing, but didn't want to copy. So Vance thought of this. I am the balloon and basket and he is the radio air traffic controller from the well publicized "Balloon Boy" story on the news the week or two earlier. It was fun.

Vance was on an intramural men's soccer team this fall. He played defender most of the time, which he's best at. This is an action shot. Although fuzzy, I was just glad to get an action picture. It's hard because he moves so quickly! They did very well in tournament and in one season game and one tournament game, he scored a goal, even as a defender on the back of the field. I went to almost all of the games. Why? Because I'm his biggest fan!

Vance and I attended a wedding reception in October. Here he is above. He is so cute.

While we were in Las Vegas to see family and the BYU game, we went to see the new highway inside the Hoover Dam. It was incredible to look at....what an engineering dream.

BYU Football Games

Vance and I have season tickets to all the football games. Here is a picture of one of the first games we went to in September. The LaVell Edwards Stadium is very large, it is neat to see how many people can attend these games.

It was really hot at the first game in September. But at least we won!

Vance and I went to a BYU game in October when we were playing LasVegas- in Las Vegas. It was a lot warmer. We stayed with Vance's sister and brother in-law (Jennifer and Steven) so it was nice to see family as well. Here was our view in Vegas. We were in the fourth row- nice and close!

Cleaning Miracle

Last Thursday and Friday I had a sore throat and swollen lymph nodes in my neck. I thought it might be strep, but has just been a horrible cold. I left work an hour early on Friday. I have lost my voice and have had the sore throat, runny/stuffy nose ever since. Yesterday and today it has been a nagging cough, or coughing and I can't stop. I have tried just about everything (rest, nasal decongestants, cough suppressants, humidifier, cough drops, etc). My conclusion is that I'm just getting older and it is taking longer to get better.

Anyway, today I am home from work. It's nice to be home and relax, but after the weekend, I'd rather stay busy and feel productive. After resting this morning and this afternoon I have been cleaning away. Last week I bought something I forgot I could use. It is the BEST! I know I remember seeing my mother and grandmothers use this, but I forgot about its awesomeness.

It is Scotch Brite's stainless steel scrubbing pads. I have cleaned around every crevasse and notch, pans made of stainless steel having stains I couldn't just clean with dish soap. It is a bit ironic that stainless steel really can get stains. Well, they at least get things stuck on them that seem like stains that need serious scrubbing. It is so rewarding to scrub hard and see visible and great differences.

San Diego

Vance planned the honeymoon completely. I had no idea where we were going until we checked in at the airport. I was so excited to go to San Diego...I have never been there. We had both heard great things about it. Here are a few pictures from the trip!
Here we are over the ocean. We were on our way to an aquarium. On the dock a fisherman had just caught a small tiger fish. It was so cool.

I wish Vance was in this picture, too. This was the place that we rented kayaks for our cave tours.

After the kayak tour, we were hungry. We ate outside at a restaurant right by the shore. Next to us was a lime tree, and we got to know some fun people who were sitting next to us and were very friendly. They kindly took the picture of us.

We walked along the beach together while the sun was setting. We had ice cream cones too. Again, so cool!
One of our days was spent at Sea World. We got to pet sting rays who had lost their "sting." They would swim right along the edges of the pool. It seemed as if they liked being touched by people.

Some type of sharks. I forgot exactly what kind. But they were fun to look at.

We had to see Shamu in all his glory. They had a show titled, "Inspire." Shamu is a killer whale, as we all know, and does lots of tricks. He got the audience really wet. We got a bit wet, but not soaked.

Summer Fun

I seem to be posting a lot of older pictures. But I haven't put up very many from all we've taken. Here we are in Wisconsin at the mid-end of July after we were married for a second wedding reception. We went to EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) one day. It is a week long event in my hometown every year. They have hundreds and hundreds of all types of planes and air shows. It is a big deal! Vance and I took some of my cousins that were in town.

The week or so before Vance and I got married, there was a Murray family reunion. Here we are in Zion's. We hiked to Angel's Landing, which was a big hike. It was fun, though. Here we are with Kayden (not our child, FYI).

We stayed in this house for the week of the Murray family reunion. There was swimming, paintball, ping pong, games, etc.

This was taken the day before I took Ruth Ann, my sister up to BYU-I. We had a week of sister bonding time. Pictured are all my sisters and dearest friends (Kelsey (with baby Jared), Ruth, and me.

Las Vegas weekend!

Vance and I just got back from a quick trip to Las Vegas for the weekend. We left early Saturday morning, spent the afternoon with Vance's sister Jennifer, brother-in-law Steve, and their four kids. They were good hosts and so kind to us. We went to the BYU vs UNLV game that evening, which was GREAT!! We were in the fourth row and had a good view. We were surprised how many BYU fans there were (seemed to be almost half of all the fans). Before attending church on Sunday morning, we drove to Hoover Dam and saw the incredible construction for a new highway that bypasses the dam. We'll have to post some pictures of the quick weekend. It was a lot of driving for only being in Vegas for 26 hours, but worth it!!

Lately...

The video is Vance parasailing. We were in Wisconsin for the end of June, through Independence Day weekend. During our family reunion in Door County, we had afternoons open to do whatever we wanted. One day we found out we were unable to go motor biking like planned. But it worked out even better, because we decided to go parasailing instead!!! So here we are. Vance was a bit nervous, but he did great!






Vance and I on the beaches of Door County. This is by the port that takes you to Washington Island, a tourist island of the "thumb" of Wisconsin. This beach on one side was nice and sandy, and on this side, it was all soft shells.

My sister Ruth Ann came to Utah to spend time with Kelsey, Ken, Jared, Vance, and I before she started school up at BYU-I. We then drove to Idaho Falls and stayed with the Crandall's. They used to live in Wisconsin (since we were babies). They are very good family friends of ours. It was a great reunion. They were so generous as well. We were fed well, slept in beds like 5 star hotels, good entertainment, and received lots of wheat bread, zucchini, and wheat flour!

Ruth Ann and I on Labor Day up at BYU-I. This business building is where some of her classes are. She is so excited and is doing very well. I was surprised how cool it was up in Rexburg. It was a nice break to have the cool winds. It was also neat to see and experience BYU-Idaho. It has such a warm, friendly feeling.

GRE news

Vance took the GRE today! I think I'm just as relieved and happy that it's over with as he is. To celebrate, we went out for dinner at Magleby's (which cost us only three dollars because we had some gift certificates... great customer service, too!). We're also going to relax even more by watching the movie Fireproof. It feels like a weekend night, and that is just fine by me!
