By request, I am posting this very gross picture. :)
Vance and I just got back from a walk-in-clinic. I got 2 deep stitches and 6 outer stitches on my leg. Not thinking wisely, I left our largest knife on the counter, instead of putting it away after using it for dinner preparation. While picking up a plastic bag underneath the knife, it sent the knife spinning off the counter. I jumped back but it still cut my leg, and sadly made a big cut in my favorite work pants from GAP. Although cuts are not fun, we're grateful it wasn't worse!
Maybe I should milk this wound for all it is worth...do I need a wheelchair? Time off work? Someone to bring me meals? A cold washcloth for my forehead?
Other than the mild drama for the evening, everything has been going great. Vance was involved in a large grant for the Mechanical Engineering department. We are expecting to hear back from graduate schools soon as well. We've had some GEORGEOUS snowfalls recently. Vance has been enjoying occasional intramural or pick up basketball games with friends. I've been getting into shape...differently this time. I have been in the weight room in addition to some cardio exercise. Hoping to max out soon...just kidding. Work is going great. Several students have made large leaps of progress at school, which is very rewarding.
You can't tell such a grusome story like that and not show a picture! Please take a picture of those stitches!
ReplyDeleteOW! Sorry that happened! That happens more often than I'd like here, too (a knife or other dangerous kitchen object be dropped/spilled). I've always been lucky & hopped far enough out of the way not to get seriously hurt yet- sorry you weren't! :( It's a good lesson for the rest of us to be more careful! Hope you heal well & sooon!
ReplyDeleteYou always make me laugh Lisa! I think its funny that you were so worried about your pants. Maybe just because you didn't completely chop off your leg, right? :) Glad to hear you guys are doing well!
ReplyDeleteWhy didn't you call me? I own lots of ice packs!
ReplyDeleteYikes! I am so sorry that happened. I am always afraid that is going to happen to me when I have the knives out, probably why I don't cook that much with them. Glad you are okay and excited to hear when Vance hears about graduate school. so exciting!
ReplyDeleteI know I'm a week late but, Owee! You sound so brave! I think I would have passed out. It is good to hear about all you two are up to. Jer and I (and Kayla) enjoy having you guys near by to play with. I am jealous of your gym workouts..keep up the good work though (in case you need some cheering:) Way to go on the grant Vance and keep us posted about Grad schools!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the picture Lisa...I think my life is complete now!
